Software and Electronics Vehicle Engineer (Racing Cars Development)

Within the Competizioni GT Engineering Dept., the Software and Electronics Vehicle Engineer operatively reports to the Vehicle Electronics & Control and Performance & Simulation managers.

Object
Vehicle performance and reliability improvement through vehicle and powertrain control software and electronics hardware optimization.
Driving simulator development by improving SiL integration of vehicle controls and setting up HiL simulations.
Definition of component and system level requirements for electronics and controls for vehicle and driving simulator.

Main responsibilities
Build up an excellent understanding of technical and sporting regulation where company GTE/GT3 cars race.
Contribute to definition of technical targets and/or new design solutions for the electronic system and control software.
Develop electronics hardware and control software to match performance and reliability improvement targets.
Use the driving simulator as debugging and development tool for vehicle controls.
Complete the full integration of the real car controls into the driver simulator (software in the loop simulations).
Implement the hardware in the loop at the driving simulator.
Contribute to definition and development of robust validation processes for control software.
Guarantee compliance of vehicle and powertrain electronics and controls with technical regulations.
Attend track tests and/or race events when required to check and develop the functionality of controls and electronics.
Assure detailed reporting of all activities, prepare and attend to the weekly dept./progress meeting to review the status of development activities.

Relationships
The Software and Electronics Vehicle Engineer works closely to the Vehicle Electronics & Control and Performance & Simulation managers.
He/she relates with the experts of the CTO Technical Direction (road cars) to assure transfer of technology and experience from racing to road car department, in particular to Corse Clienti vehicle projects, and vice versa.
He/she must build up a close relationship with the control engineers of our best technical partner sharing tools, process and targets.


Required skills
Master degree or PhD on Electronic (or Automation) Engineering.
Excellent knowledge of Matlab and its derivatives (SimuLink, StateFlow, )
Excellent knowledge of programming languages such as Matlab, C or python.
Experience in vehicle/powertrain control software design and development is considered a plus.
Knowledge of energy recovery and electrification systems will be considered as a plus.
Team player attitude, engineering enthusiasm, technical creativity and curiosity.
Structured approach to problem solving.
Close attention to details.
Fluent in English and Italian (the knowledge of German and/or French language being an asset)
