Experis is searching for a client company, a multinational energy company, one of the world's principal integrated electricity and gas operators as well as one of the main producers of green energy, a Computational Scientist in order to support the evolution of the Business.

Be part of the team to support research, development and productization of next generation optimal control solutions for energy management.

Workplace: Rome

What you will do:

You will have a key role in building innovative intelligent control systems that optimize energy usage for a wide range of use cases. You will be responsible for developing new and improved algorithms for optimizing energy systems in real time. Specifically, you will:
- Develop modern innovative control systems and algorithms for:
- Optimal control of energy resources for grid-connected and off-grid applications
- Forecasting of energy consumption and energy market variables
- Determining optimal bidding strategies for energy resources participating in multiple markets around the world
- Contribute to improved numerical and architectural approaches for control systems.
- Continuous improvement of forecasting models for several energy-related applications using traditional and advanced machine learning regression techniques
- Feature engineering, prototyping, tuning, training, and evaluation of new and existing models
- Development and use of simulation tools for algorithm evaluation
Who you are:

Degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or a related technical field with:
- At least 2 years' experience in software development for mathematical or scientific applications
- Experience solving difficult time-variant mathematical or physical problems computationally
- Knowledge of numerical methods such as nonlinear regression, optimization, differentiation and integration, solving systems of equations, time discretization and simulation, interpolation, linear, non-linear, mixed-integer and stochastic programming
- Experience in multi-step, multivariate time series forecasting
- Experience with traditional and deep-learning ML architectures for regression (e.g., ANNs, LSTMs)
- Experience with common ML toolkits such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch or scikit-learn
- Experience with optimization modeling tools such as Python's Pyomo, AMPL, GAMS, or Juliàs JuMP
- At least 1-year coding and debugging in a Python team development environment
- Proficiency with NumPy and Pandas
- Proficiency with Python Object Oriented Programming (OOP) techniques
- Proficiency using test-driven software development (TDD) techniques
- Proficiency with Integrated Development Environments such as PyCharm or similar
- Basic knowledge of electronics and electrical governing equations
- Knowledge of Git
- English fluency
- Experience documenting experiments and communicating results effectively to a team
- Ability to travel internationally
