Chassis and Powertrain Mechanical Engineer

Within the Competizioni GT Engineering Dept., Chassis and Powertrain Mechanical Engineer operatively reports to the Chassis and Powertrain Managers (directly to Engineering Director/Dept. Resp).

Object
- Concept study and definition of component and system level engineering of the chassis systems and powertrain.
- Delivering right first time solutions through outstanding engineering.
- Chassis and powertrain layout improvement.
- Verify compliance of chassis system and powertrain within technical regulations.
- Keep up to date all the chassis and powertrain 3D CAD assembly models and 2D CAD drawings.

Main responsibilities
- Build up an excellent understanding of technical and sporting regulation where GTE/GT3 cars race.
- Define technical targets and/or new design solutions of the chassis and powertrain system for performance improvement.
- Execute new concept and/or new technology studies (eventually jointly with the development partner).
- Draft CAD modeling of the concept design.
- Support the Chassis and Powertrain Managers with the definition of new systems / homologation specification targeting always the best integration with the chassis (considering layout, aerodynamic and cooling requirements, structural constraints, etc.).
- Carry out deep analysis of all competitors car (chassis systems, powertrain) identifying either strength and weak points s well as original/clever interpretation of the technical regulations.
- Champion best practices, and be the gate-keeper for the quality of engineering within the engineering team.
- Keep updated about latest materials and chassis and powertrains systems solutions.
- Assure detailed reporting of all activities, attend and report to the weekly dept. progress meeting.
- Attend to track testing or race event when needed/required (not often).

Relationships
- The PU Mechanical Engineer works closely to the Chassis and Powertrain Managers of the Competizioni GT Engineering
- Dept. for new concept studies, layout optimization and CAD assembly modeling
- He needs to build up a good relationship and facilitate frequent exchanges with the Technical Direction of the CTO, in particular with the Engine Design and the Chassis Concept Design Depts.

Required skills
- Master degree or PhD on Mechanical (or Aeronautical) Engineering
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Catia) and PLM systems.
- Good understanding of the main automotive systems and internal combustion engine are essential.
- Experience in racing car design and development (in particular on suspension system) will be considered as a plus.
- Knowledge of energy recovery and electrification systems will be considered as a plus.
- “Can do” attitude, engineering enthusiasm, technical creativity and curiosity.
- Structured approach to problem solving
- Close attention to details
- Fluent in English
